Spotlight Charity for November

At MBC we’re dedicated to making a positive impact in our communities by helping individuals and families in need. We do this through our commitment to help support charities that make a huge impact in the lives of many throughout our Michigan communities. One of the ways we raise money is with Friday Casual Days. Every month MBC employees have the opportunity to pay monies for the privilege of wearing blue jeans or other casual attire on Fridays.

Our spotlight charity for November is United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture. CP is the most common motor disability in childhood. CDC estimates that an average of 1 in 323 children in the U.S. have CP.

Cerebral palsy is caused by a problem in the brain that affects a child’s ability to control his or her muscles. Problems in different parts of the brain cause problems in different parts of the body. There are many possible causes of problems, such as genetic conditions, problems with the blood supply to the brain before birth, infections, bleeding in the brain, lack of oxygen, severe jaundice, and head injury.  It is the vision of United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan to be the pre-eminent non-profit organization that provides resources, support and advocacy to empower people with disabilities, their families and allies to lead self-determined lives.

United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan mission connects people with disabilities to the opportunities and resources needed to live productive and independent lives.
