Spotlight Charity for December

At MBC we’re dedicated to making a positive impact in our communities by helping individuals and families in need. We do this through our commitment to help support charities that make a huge impact in the lives of many throughout our Michigan communities. One of the ways we raise money is with Friday Casual Days. Every month MBC employees have the opportunity to pay monies for the privilege of wearing blue jeans or other casual attire on Fridays.

Our spotlight charity for December is Volunteers of America Michigan.  Volunteers of America (VOA) are a faith-based nonprofit organization. VOA provides affordable housing and other assistance services primarily to low-income people in Michigan and throughout the United States such as: help for the homeless, food for the hungry, employment and shelter for veterans, housing for poor seniors, and a helping hand for struggling families.

Volunteers of America Michigan is the largest provider of homeless services in the Capital Region.

Volunteers of America Michigan also is the state’s largest private provider of services to veterans. Outside the VA, nobody works with more of the men and women who have served this country.

Other programs reach out to the lonely and impoverished during the holidays, with hot meals, gifts and gestures of caring.

In 1993 the Adopt a Family program was started to help families with children, seniors and veterans by providing food, toys and clothing….and hope. VOA has been helping the most vulnerable across Michigan since 1896.
