At MBC we are dedicated to making a positive impact in our communities by helping individuals and families in need. We do this through our commitment to help support charities that make a huge impact in the lives of many throughout our Michigan communities. One of the ways we raise money is with Friday Casual Days. Every month MBC employees can pay $20 for the privilege of wearing blue jeans or other casual attire on Fridays.

Our spotlight charity for July is Forgotten Harvest.

For 30 years, Forgotten Harvest has fought two problems: hunger and waste. In 1990, they set down roots in the greater metro Detroit area and began rescuing food surplus from grocery stores, markets, restaurants, caterers, and more. They took donated food, which would otherwise go to waste, and delivered it free-of-charge to emergency food providers in the metro Detroit area. Their work has since expanded to include Forgotten Harvest Farms, where they grow their own fresh food for those in need.

All of the food they rescue and produce is delivered to metro Detroit families who are food-insecure and struggle to cover the cost of basic life necessities. Their food helps bridge the income gap for tens of thousands of people, allowing them to secure some basic life necessities for themselves and their family. They deliver 138,000 pounds of surplus food per day to local charities six days a week, providing families in need with fresh and nutritious food free of charge.
