At MBC we’re dedicated to making a positive impact in our communities by helping individuals, families and organizations that make a huge impact in the lives of many throughout Michigan. One of the ways we raise money is with Friday Casual Days. Every month MBC employees have the opportunity to pay monies for the privilege of wearing blue jeans or other casual attire on Fridays.

The Animals & Society Institute Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Priorities
Our Mission & Vision
The Animals & Society Institute (ASI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is a US-based interdisciplinary global research institute whose mission is to advance and share knowledge to improve nonhuman animal lives. We believe our programs, resources, and research promote the long-term societal changes needed to realize our vision, which is to live in a compassionate and equitable world where nonhuman animals and our relationships with them flourish.
Our Values
As a nonprofit institute devoted to human-nonhuman animal relationships, there is a core set of principles that define who we are and what we stand for, and by extension, guide how we do what we do:
We believe in equity among all humans and other animals
We amplify the voices of diverse human perspectives
We address practices and policies where animals and human-animal relationships are adversely affected
We promote animal-centered research that prioritizes nonhuman animal well being
We engage our stakeholders with integrity and transparency
We strive for societal transformation
We value access to knowledge
We value solutions that can create positive change across the world
We value and collaborate with diverse geographies to better understand their needs
Strategic Priorities:
ASI is dedicated to providing education and resources to those working around the world to understand and improve human-nonhuman animal relationships. Our strategic priorities are Research, Public Policy, Global Reach, and Education Access. Through these priorities, we promote the field of Human-Animal Studies through the wide availability and dissemination of research and resources.
ASI helps improve and expand knowledge about human-nonhuman animal relationships in order to create safer and more compassionate communities for all. We are leaders in translating research on human-nonhuman animal interaction into practice, providing essential knowledge and tools, and promoting evidence-based approaches that get results.
